Twitter is a micro-blogging, social medial tool that allows users to follow each other, participate in "chats", re-post or "re-tweet" comments, links images, that are of interest to the user and their followers.  Twitter can be used in as simple or complex a fashion as the user is comfortable with.

Users are limited to 140 character so using shorthand is advisable to get more lengthy or complex messages out into the twitter-verse.  Create or follow hastags (#) to make comments searchable.  Hashtags can also be used to join in weekly chat sessions.  Send messages to specific people by adding their Twitter "handle" to your comments (@twitter, for example).

Twitter has become an incredible networking tool for educators.  Begin your Twitter adventure here.
